I’m Sue Ryan of Sue Ryan Photography. I’m a fine art portrait artist in Bailey, Colorado. I am a Certified Professional Photographer and a member of Professional Photographers of America. I am pleased to offer professional photography of paintings for reproduction prints in cooperation with Time Capsule Art and Framing in Shawnee, Colorado.  Professional quality photo files will allow painters to sell an infinite number of high quality reproductions, allows for larger size reproductions, and increase the value of the original painting.

My entire process is calibrated using the X-Rite color system, the industry standard for color calibration and technology, and the owner of Pantone. My camera is color calibrated and each painting is photographed alongside an X-Rite Color Checker which gives me an accurate target for white balance and color calibration confirmation. Before each job I calibrate my monitor with an X-Rite X1 Display Pro calibration device. This guarantees industry standard color fidelity to your photo files.

In the camera room, I use double polarization to eliminate glare. This means I use a polarizing filter on my camera lens, and also polarization films on my lights at 90 degrees opposite the polarization of the filter on the lens. This cuts all glare possible from your painting. I set my exposures using a Sekonic light meter, metering both sides and the center of your piece to insure even lighting across the piece.

Finally, I look at each file on the computer. I check white balance and color accuracy, then look it over for any stray dust, fiber, brush hairs, etc., that may have been on the actual painting, and retouch those out.

You receive a full resolution TIFF file. I can also send directly to Time Capsule Framing for print.

$60 per piece, or 15% ($51) off for three or more in same order.

Payment by Zelle, Venmo, or check written to Susan Ryan. 303-710-7437 Please make payment at time of order.

What Do I Mean by Honest Portraits?

All my life I've been interested in other people's relationships with their family and themselves. It seems so many people have portraits made, you know, the happy-happy-say-cheese kinds of portraits that are pretty, but kind of superficial. They don't say anything about who those people *are.” Honest portraiture is authentic and shows the real love, concern, pride, strength, and so many other things that make us who we really are. My portrait clients choose me because they want to say who they and what about them is important and true.

What would your Honest Portrait look like? Would it be an emotionally tender moment with your spouse, child, or other family member? Would it be an image of you showing your truest personal identity? Would it be an environmental portrait showing you at your trade or personal passion?

Leave a comment and tell me what your Honest Portrait would include.
